  1. 15 cubic yards will suffice.

    (a cubic yard is about 33 cubic feet or 100/3 , so the 4 inches or 1/3 foot thickness divides this and you finish up with about a tenth of the number you started with.)


  2. Not sure where macrocompassion got his definition of cubic yards. It's 3 ftx3ftx3ft=27 cu ft to 1 cu yd.

    Here's a calculator to make it easy. Note the it's for mulch or topsoil, but since it's going by volume (not weight), the material doesn't matter and it will work for sand.

  3. This is confusing...by my calculations, you will need about 1.8 cy of sand...I would get two cy though, just to be on the safe side.

  4. To cover the area you need about 50 cubic feet of sand.  If you are buying it in cubic yards... you need almost 2 cubic yards of sand.
