How you become popular and make more friends in school?

im 16 and i don't have to many friends. well i do but not close friends and im tired of it. I'm starting high school this year i want to become popular in my school and i want to make lots of friends cause for along time i felt like nothing and i didn't really matter to any one at school. I'm shy and have no self confidence in myself. I feel no one would want to be my friend i feel they would pick on me. I don't know why they would i mean im cool, tall, muscular and funny at times. I guess its cause i feel bad about myself. So im just asking how do you become popular and make lots of friends. I noticed the party animals are usually the popular ones.

I am having almost the same problem! O: I really dont know what to do. I just got into homeschooling so I wont have to worry about makings friends. :]

im guessing ur a guy... well im a girl so i'll tell u what u should do...

popular guys are confident (psh.. no one is completely confident of coarse, but they put the act on.) they aren't afraid to get in trouble either. They make lots of funny jokes (including dirty jokes).

they wear expenisve baggy clothing, t-shirts, jeans, sweats, with a touch of preppiness and bad boy. no shirts though. Lots of ed-hardey, abercrombie, and other companies I don't know. theyr cocky cheeky also. Popular guys are relatively hot looking, or at least don't have any weird deformities. It would really help you if you started working out. Their hair isn't long either, and they listen to a lot of rap music. You can not be shy and popular, you must get over your self and be loud, and just slightly obnoxious and think your the hottest thing alive, though without being mean. You need a sweet side for girls.

You have to learn to approach girls. Girls like it when a guy comes up to them and wants to know their name, and flirts with them, and acts like he thinks she's hot. Believe me its the guys job to start the conversation and they can never really go wrong. be sencere and funny with girls, and understanding.

Join a team and get reallly good at the sport. Slowely ease into the popular guy group.

Honey the party animals usually lose in the end. Just be yourself and don't push people into being your friend. Friendships take time and effort. My advice is to be friendly, go out for extra curricular activities and great young people can be found in the local churches.

just be yourself, and keep in close contact w/ everyone you meet. its better just to have some really close friends then to be popular, because when you are popular everyone talks about u behind your back. that might just be my opinion though, but everyone at my school thats popular are real jerks

Wow,I wonder where you kids go to school,my high school was never like this,everyone was so chill with one another,and always got along, but we all can't live in San Diego...Anyways be nice to everyone,kill 'em with kindness and be yourself,people are pretty accepting if you give them a chance. High school was the best years of my life,it should be yours too...remember take risks and live it up cause those 4 years can past buy superr quick.

sign up to do sports, school activities, sbo, class pres. be yourself dont change to be friends with some one who is not worth it.
