1. 2x > -6 and x - 4 < 3

2. x + 5 > 2x + 1 and -4x < -8

3. -6 < x + 3 < 6 (Remember this is an "and" statement)

4. -3x < -6 or x + 5 < -2

5. x - 2 > 2x + 1 or -10 > -2x - 2

  1. Hey, Chris, read the head for this category.  It is ASTRONOMY, not MATHEMATICS.  You would have done better to put this with math, so you don&#039;t have the 2012 and sci-fi flakes to review your answers.  Just wandering old cattbarf.

    If you have a inequality of x+b&gt;c, you preserve the inequality if you subtract b from each side.  So x&gt;c-b.   You can divide both sides of the inequality and preserve it also.  So once you have inequalities in x alone, they can be combined.

    So in the first one,  by the division property:  x&gt;-3, and by the addition property, x&lt;7.   Combining, -3&lt;x&lt;7.  

    The others aren&#039;t that much harder.
