Hello. I don’t know if all of you know me, but if you have been to Las Vegas, there is a street there that is named after me. If you have not been to Las Vegas but have seen the movie The Aviator, you definitely know me. No, I’m not Leonardo Caprio. I am who Leonardo Caprio portrayed in the movie. My name is – I’ll give money to the one who can guess who I am. ( somebody will certainly say Howard Hughes)

Yes, you are absolutely right. I am Howard Hughes. (show slide 1) I was once the richest man in the world. Because you guessed my name correctly, I am going to give you a portion of my wealth. (Give him 50 cents).

You might be wondering what these are for. Well, you see, I hate germs. I see everything and everyone a potential germ carrier, so better get away from me. Germs just make me sick, okay?(cleans hands with sanitizer, wipes table with alcohol). People call me hypochondriac , but I disagree with them. I am simply afraid of getting sick. So please do not come cl

  1. POST IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. THIS AIN'T STORY HOUR.

  2. I think you have a good start here, but I see one fundamental problem with your presentation. I am guessing the assignment is to act like person you are studying, as opposed to being yourself and talking about the subject, right? What you have done here is write a report about Howard Hughes and just changed everything to the first person. You need to BECOME the man.

Let me give you a couple of examples. Near the beginning, you have written, "Well, you see, I hate germs". I don't think he would say that. He wouldn't find it necessary to explain himself to others. Instead, just use the wipes on your hands, or pick up your props with tissues. Don't explain what you are doing, just do it, as if it was completely normal and reasonable to you.

In another example you wrote "I may be a shy, awkward, and sickly person". I don't think Howard Hughes would ever say this about himself. You need to get inside his head and behave like he would, not just talk about him. Watch the Aviator movie closely because Decaprio did a brilliant job of portraying him. Take for example the scenes where he is testifying before Congressmen. He had absolute confidence before them despite what we saw of him in private in other scenes. He never admitted to them his shyness, and he may not have even admitted it to himself. It was always concealed under the table. You might think of giving clues to your audience about these quirks rather than telling them. Make your legs quiver from time to time under the table, hesitate when you're about to begin, maybe briefly repeat yourself a few times like he did that one time in the movie.

You need to be subtle rather than overt. You need to show them, rather than tell them. You need to exhibit both his drive and passion, and his obsessiveness and inner insecurity. He was a leader and an innovator, but he was also nuts inside. BECOME this man, and your presentation will be a huge hit.

  3. I think you did better the first time.  What are you doing now?  You've made minor changes giving no benefit and ignored previous advice.
