Howard Webb ridiculed over ‘questionable’ decisions
Ryan Babel has questioned Howard Webb’s impartiality after Sunday’s FA Cup encounter between Manchester United and Liverpool. The Reds midfielder has accused the referee of siding with Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
Howard Webb came under fire from Liverpool fans for awarding a soft penalty to United just 30 seconds after kick-off. Berbatov fell over in the box under pressure from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884, and the referee did not hesitate in pointing to the spot. Liverpool players
argued that the Bulgarian had made the most of Agger’s weak tackle; however, the decision stood.
Howard Webb created further controversy by showing Steven Gerrard a straight red card after the Liverpool captain lunged in on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282, reducing the Reds to 10 men at the half-hour mark. It was Ryan Gigg’s goal from the spot that turned out to be
the difference between the two sides. Liverpool are now out of the FA Cup, much to the chagrin of Ryan Babel.
Babel uploaded a photoshopped picture of Howard Webb in a Manchester United shirt just hours after the match. Below the photo, the Liverpool midfielder wrote, “And they call him one of the best referees? That's a joke.”
He has now removed the picture from his Twitter account; however, the winger’s outburst might just come back to haunt him. The FA is considering taking action against Babel for his comments.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 midfielder has since apologised, saying, “My apology if they take my posted pic seriously. This is just an emotional reaction after losing an important game. Sorry Howard Webb.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196’s dismissal was
harsh.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Dalglish, the Liverpool manager’s son, did not pull any punches in his rant against Howard Webb. The former Newcastle player directly accused the referee of being in Sir Alex Ferguson’s pocket. He wrote on his Twitter account, “Fergie has his puppet
Howard Webb on a piece of string. Howard Webb MBE. Manc of the Busby Empire.”
