There is no way - other than just asking around like others said, but then all you get is rumors.

Ask your neighbors, apartment management, check with public records.  

In less than one year at a complex I managed, we had 7 people die (4 suicides, 1 woman was murdered by her ex husband and 2 of natural causes) in their apartments.

ask about people who lived in the house before u came to it first ask the one directly before u

Go to town hall and police stations for records. Also ask your manager and neighbors.
