The young defender insisted they have a good chance to win the game, as they will be playing in front of their own crowd. He further added that the defeat against Hoffenheim will not hamper their Champions League form.
"We won in London, why shouldn't we succeed in front of our own fans at the Veltins-Arena? We will not be thrown off by a defeat,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The 24-year-old suggested that they discussed what went wrong in their last match, but will now look forward to their upcoming clash with the English side. He admitted that the defeat is a big blow in their bid to catch Bayern
Munich in the league table.
"Certainly on the way home to Gelsenkirchen, everyone reviewed the game's events. But we have to concentrate on the next task and not look back,” he added.
"The result, of course, is a step back, but overall, we put in a good performance against Hoffenheim, dominated the game and we created a number of chances, so you can't see everything as bad,” he stated.
Howedes claimed that despite the loss, his team members played well and created several opportunities. He conceded that they need to focus on both the attacking and defensive fronts in the crucial games. Schalke are leading the
group B with seven points.
