The Schalke defender has described the Borussia Dortmund man as the main threat ahead of the Ruhr Derby on Saturday
Defending champions Borussia Dortmund will host Schalke in one of the most awaited derbies in German football on Saturday, October 20. The two sides have had a mixed start to the season and are behind the likes of Bayern Munich
and Eintracht Frankfurt on the Bundesliga standings table.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues are third with 14 points from the seven games played whereas Dortmund are fourth on the table with 12 points. Bayern Munich lead with a staggering 21 points after winning all seven games they have taken part in.
Howedes claimed that the Schalke defence has to be wary of Marco Reus, who has been in scintillating form for the Black Yellows this season. The defender has urged his teammates to not give the former Gladbach man the space he
needs as he can be dangerous. The player joined the Bundesliga champions in the summer in a deal worth €17 million from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The striker has been unstoppable since the start of the campaign and has already scored six times in the nine appearances he has made for his new club. The attacker also has an assist to his name.
Reus’ form for the German national team has also been brilliant as he recently scored a brace in Die Mannschaft’s 6-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987 in a World Cup qualifier. The player has made the left wing spot his and is now
a regular member of Joachim Low’s first team.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 has a sensational strike. It will be crucial not to let him plenty of space in and around the penalty area. The way in which we played was just right. We want to repeat that on Saturday – it’s just the result that we
want to change,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Schalke could potentially end Borussia Dortmund’s chances of lifting a third straight league title at the end of this season as a loss would mean that Jurgen Klopp’s side would be nine points behind the Reds, who will still have
a game in hand.
