  1. lions, and other big cats, give birth to 2 cubs per litter on average, though they can have 1 to 4 cubs.


  2. Lions can have between one and six cubs in a litter, but two to four is most common. A lioness has only four teats, so if she has more than four cubs it is unlikely that all of them will survive more than a few days. Less than half of all cubs born make it to maturity.

  3. A lioness gives birth to a litter of one to four cubs at a time.
