  1. I currently work as a server at a catering hall and make very good money in NYC. I have a lot of friends that work at restaurants in NYC and also make good money. The only downfall is being on your feet all day :-(  hurts like a b*****

  2. The money was good in season and really bad off-season (I live in Florida) so you had to be carefull to budget yourself and not blow it all when you had a good night. Some customers were nice some nasty, some tipped good some only 10% or less, it was tough being on your feet and eating your meals even standing up, working late, sleeping during the day but I do miss it. Some of my customers became really good friends. I was a good waitress, I had a good memory, i was fast and rarely made mistakes with the orders so I was making a lot more money than I am now...Shucks.

  3. I tried being a waiter part-time.  It was a living h**l, but probably because my manager made it that way.  If you're on his/her good side you will have an awesome time.  Although, it is a tough job.  Try not to spill!  Don't be nervous or shy, but don't be in their face.  I made tips only if I didn't get the person mad, but that's really hard to do if you're running back and forth from tables because nobody else shared a shift with me.  I worked at an Asian restaurant called Jasmine, which is located in the Bellagio.  It was high class, so there were tons of s****. rich people, no offense to anyone.  As long as your fast, not clumsy, and can carry a lot you will do fine.  I, for one, would rather prefer bartending.
