they're very good places to live... I`ve lived in both, clean, ordinated, quiet... colima is a smaller city

This is a bit of a vague question. Do you want to know about life there or just the government? And what exactly about the government? Like getting a driver's license? Paying taxes? Applying for welfare? Whether it's a functioning democracy? Do they have government backed mortgages?

Yes, they do have Social Security Numbers, but that's really just for Mexican citizens.

Guadalajara is a big city. About 6 million people. It's the second largest in Mexico (after Mexico City). So, it's got the amenities - but also the problems - of big cities. There are lots of good places to eat, good movie theaters, lots of grocery stores, etc. The downtown area is really charming and busy, and GDL offers a lot of cultural activities.

Colima, on the other hand, is the capital city of the state of Colima. Very tiny city in comparison. There are only 500K people in the entire state! The city of Colima is really very pleasant, but you have to like small town life. There's a big Wal-Mart there, and a Sears. There's also a movie theater or two. The best part about Colima is that it's only about an hour from Manzanillo - which has nice beaches. Although they're not white-sand, Cancun beaches, they're still very nice. Makes for a great getaway.

In both cities, knowing Spanish is a must. English is rarely spoken (unlike the resort towns like Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan where English is widely spoken). Guadalajara attracts many students who go there to learn Spanish.

Really dont know about that but Guadalajara is very beautiful city...alot to do their! 3rd largest city in Mexico the country...Colima is the littlest stae in Mexico...evry HOT!! Almost year round...dont know how people live their! Been their many times also Gdl!
