Hows the economy(jobs) where you live?

Here is the latest in my area, Tampa Bay. It's not good.

Here in Nashville, TN area the job market is great! Strong local economies, plus a county next to Nashville is the 83rd fastest growing county in America.

Here in Ireland the construction industry is the hardest hit.My husband is a builder and has a full order book for the next two years but the big guns are laying people off in droves.

How come Texas is bucking the trend.(Maybe it's the Bush connection?)Hmmm.

That sounds terrible for the Tampa Bay area.

Our area, Western New York I am afraid to say isn't much better. It's slow, people are losing their homes, no jobs, no homes are selling, prices of everything is skyrocketing.....it just seems like it's a snow ball rolling downhill.

Very good question, I am sitting here waiting for a answer from my company on if we are going to stay open or close, I should know in about an hour. Talk about being scared to death.

I am from Singapore. I am not sure about the situation now but there is an article in yahoo today, giving gloomy forecast ahead. I have been jobless since 2nd July 2008. I have not applied for any jobs since then. I think it was bad at the time I was working. I almost could not get my S$530 pay. Though it was just 530 sing dollars, it was like sucking their blood and eating their flesh. It was a terrible experience for me. I have phobia about looking for job now.

There are plenty of jobs here. Just not too many WELL paying jobs. Or, should I say job with inflated values.

Where I am there are lots of layoffs in the manufacturing area

Plus a big national communications company just laid off over 100,000 workers
