what programs would i need to be able to make my own dvds and where can i download films that don't require me to have to account ?

If a Mac, just use the free iMovie and iDVD that came with the computer.

Get the films from mininova, convert and burn them to dvd using convertxtodvd. You also need to download bittorrent in order to download the films.
