Yes we DO know that monkeys did not evolve from us. If you understood genetics, you'd know it too.

Humans are smarter than monkeys, that doesn't mean we're better, and being smart enough to kill is not the same as being smart enough live in peace. Our smarts are not going to save us because no matter what we think, we're not all that smart...

Your confusion is the basic idea that one evolved from the other.

Humans and all the different monkey species are all distant *cousins*.   None of them "evolved from" any of the others.

It is like asking whether you are an ancestor of your cousin, or a descendant.    The question itself is utterly confused.

What?  Monkeys didn't evolve from humans.  And humans didn't evolve from monkeys.  We have a common ancestor.  You're related to your cousin, but you didn't come from him - you have a common ancestor in your grandparents.

It is not correct to say that humans evolved from monkeys. Both chimpanzees and humans that we see today evolved from one common ancestor which no longer exists.
