  3. You CANNOT downgrade and OS trying to do so will often  kill the disk!

you need to start from BIOS and configure the hard drive to be recognised (with install disk in) then continue boot form CD then partition drive then format it then install XP but you are starting from new so nothing will be saved from previous.

  4. Because you will not be able to easily install xp on  a machine made for vista. First off the drivers don't exist for xp if it is a vista machine. Next you have a SATA drive and windows xp needs a third party SATA driver to recognize the drive.

On your computer there should be a recovery partition that is to be used with the manufacturers recovery software.

  5. Izit that it displayed a msg saying couldnt find ur hardisk right? I have the similiar experience too..

Ya, of cz u can downgrade to XP. First u have to goto the BIOS and set the hardisk mode as "compatible". If u couldn't find it from ur BIOS, download and update ur BIOS to the latest version. and try boot it up with ur XP CD. If it doesnt work, let's try the bellow steps;)

Another easier option would be using an external floppy. All u hv to do is to:

    1) download the latest BIOS version from HP website (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...

    2) Extract it into an empty disket. It's like how u format win98 in a SATA hardisk. (if u hv done it b4)

    3) Insert the disket into an external floppy drive and insert WinXp into ur CD/DVD ROM

    4) Boot ur notebook frm CD/DVD ROM

    5) While the setup is running, u could observe a msg frm bottom of ur screen saying "press F6 to..."

    6) Immediately, click F6 on ur keyboard and it will come out something for u to choose, pick the third option and click ENTER.

    7) The rest of the steps r the same as u format a pc

**Make sure u don't remove the external floppy drive untill the end of the process

    Hope it helps u:)
