Hp pavillion dv8210us sceen is very dark, can see...

Question

everything else besides the lcd monitor works fine in my lap top when pluged into an external monitor, but without it the screen is very very dark, as if it was turned off. Also if when I look very very close at the lcd I can see a shadows of the windows.

I think I need to replace the screen but its to expensive and i did not give it any physical damage, I need a second opinion.
