The retired forward has expressed his displeasure at the Catalan manager’s decision against renewing his contract with La Blaugrana.
Former Barcelona striker, Hristo Stoichkov, has stated that he is saddened by the news of Barcelona’s current head coach, Pep Guardiola, choosing to part ways with the current Spanish giants.
The retired Bulgarian footballer appeared heartbroken and gave his opinion about the prospect of Guardiola leaving Barca.
Stoichkov questioned the Catalan tactician’s authority at the Nou Camp and argued the likeability of the manager not being given enough support by the club’s officials.
It was announced on Friday that Pep Guardiola will not be continuing as the manager of the Catalan giants after the expiry of his current contract with the club, which is to end after the current season.
Guardiola will be replaced by Tito Vilanova, currently the assistant coach working under him.
Stoichkov emphasized the significance of the 41-year-old’s role at the Spanish giants and stressed that things will not be the same after his exit from the Catalan capital.
He went on to express that Guardiola’s departure from Barca marks the end of an era at the Nou Camp.
Surely, the man who is a product of Barca’s youth academy and also served the club as a player, leaves behind him a legacy to be cherished by those faithful to La Blaugrana.
Under his reign, that spreads over four seasons, the Catalans managed to triumph over 13 titles including 3 Spanish La Liga and 2 UEFA Champions League trophies.
The current Litex Lovech manager, Stoichkov, has stressed that Pep cannot be replaced and Barca may never be able find a manager like him.
While talking to reporters, the 46-year-old was quoted as saying:
"I am sad, today is a sad day. A Barca myth is gone, the last of the Mohicans of the Johan Cruyff era. Barca will never have a coach who can win six titles in a single year. Perhaps he did not have the necessary support at the club anymore."
