Hsiao Ma Pai sends Beiwen Zhang packing in Women’s Singles semi-final at US Open GP Gold
Chinese Taipei’s tremendous player Hsiao Ma Pai continued her inspirational performance as she reached into Women’s Singles final after proving her elevated craft against Singapore’s Beiwen Zhang in semi-final match at the Yonex OCBC US Open GP Gold 2012
on Friday, July 6, in USA.
The top seeded Hsiao Ma, who has been showing her incredible craft in the whole tournament, continued impressing the local crowd with her hard-to-learn skills in semi-final showdown and ousted her Singaporean opponent in a comfortable fashion.
The higher ranked Taipei lady did not show any sign of confusion in the entire clash as she remained confident on court and registered a striking victory over Beiwen in straight games while taking just 36 minutes.
The un-seeded Beiwen failed to show her skills as she could not get into a comfortable position throughout the match because of the fireworks of her opponent and lost the fight with a comfortable margin on the board.
Hsiao Ma entered into the court with attacking approach as she did not take much time in occupying the driving seat and started to lead the score board.
The higher ranked Taipei shuttler was in full control of the pace and she managed an 11-8 lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Hsiao Ma continued her aggressive and planned play and did not let Beiwen to make the score levelled even for a single time in the concluding phase. She grabbed the opening set with a five-point margin of 21-16.
However, a nail-biting fight was yet to come in opening half of second game when Beiwen played to her maximum speed and troubled her higher ranked Taipei rival by setting up a superb lead of 9-4.
At this stage, Hsiao Ma also changed her tactics and kept the bird low by hitting smashes and strong pushes which helped her to level the score at 9-9.
Until the one-minute interval, Hsiao Ma was going ahead of her Singaporean rival at 11-9.
After the break, the Taipei lady remained positive in her play as she did not concede points by executing negative strokes. She remained on course without any interruption and snatched the set with a 21-16 margin on the board.
Hsiao Ma won this Women’s Singles encounter against Beiwen in just 36 minutes with a superb score of 21-16 and 21-16.
