Hsiao Ma casts Sapsiree Taerattanachai out of 2013 Thailand Open – Badminton news
Chinese Taipei’s Pai Hsiao Ma played impeccable badminton and trounced Sapsiree Taerattanachai in third round of SCG Thailand Open on Friday, June 7, 2013.
With this splendid win, she qualified for the Women’s Singles semi-finals whereas her challenger had to bid adieu to this prestigious badminton tournament. This quarter-final tussle gathered a huge crowd in Nimitbutr National Stadium of Bangkok as the local
spectators were expecting the native shuttler to prevail.
However, their hopes were buried as this 63-minute encounter belonged to Hsiao Ma with a final result of 16-21, 21-5 and 21-19.
Although the Taipei lady took some time to get settled as her passive approach hit her hard in the opening game but she managed to prevail in ending two games and locked the honour. On the other hand, the Thai campaigner squandered a great opportunity of
straight-set win and crashed out of the home event in a disgraceful manner.
Sapsiree looked at top her game in the first set as she did not waste time and established an unassailable lead. She played with authoritative approach and doubled the total before half time.
After the one-minute break, she ruled the court in few consecutive rallies and widened the gap on points table. She maintained an upper hand all the way to final moments and swept the table with 21-16 score.
The second set of match changed the scenario as Hsiao Ma showed a transformed character and brought the contest to right balance. This time she did not repeat previous mistakes and gained an immediate advantage on points table.
At half time, she was in commanding position with a figure of 11 and this psychological edge helped her in putting an overwhelming total of 21-5.
With this staggering knock, the Taipei lady silenced the local crowd and raised her chances of success. She started third set of match with an upper hand and played aggressive badminton all the way to game point situation.
At first, she mounted pressure by placing a significant total before interval and then doubled the impact with a concluding margin of 21-19. Now, she will appear in the semi-final round of Thailand Open.
