Hsieh/ Zheng crush Chan/Han to clinch title win – WANLIMA Women’s Open 2011
Taiwanese Chinese pair of Su-Wei Hsieh and Saisai Zheng stomped over their fellow Taiwanese Chinese tandem of Chin-Wei Chan and Xinyun Han with a breadstick at the WANLIMA International Women’s Open 2011, a WTA International event
held in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China. They registered a 6-2, 6-1 success over their opponents to clinch the title on Saturday.
Hsieh and Zheng took exactly an hour to destroy their fellow teammates with a breadstick on their first head-to-head.
The delighted duo of Hsieh and Zheng warded off all four breakpoints faced to bag their entire serves. They got the first blood in the fourth game and eventually went 4-1 up. The pair then broke Chan and Han’s serve again in the
last game after converting two out of four breakpoint opportunities to their advantage and clinched the opener with a 6-2 win.
The winning tandem of Hsieh and Zheng went berserk into the final set. They perfected their co-ordination to reel off first five games in a row before their rivals could get on score board. The blissful pair then held their serve
in the seventh game to earn a breadstick. They fended off both breakpoints came across and cashed in on both breakpoint chances to their advantage to seal the set with an assuring 6-1 score line.
Overall, the high flying duo clobbered a higher first serve share of 74 percent as compared to their rivals’ 65 percent and registered an impressive 66 percent win on it. They also spilled zero double faults as opposed to two by
Chan and Han and committed fewer unforced errors.
Hsieh and Zheng upset many seeds enroute to the finals. They stunned fourth seeds, Russia’s Maria Kondratieva and China’s Shengnan Sun in their opening round match. The winning combination of the Taiwanese and the Chinese then
demolished Indonesian Chinese team of Yayuk Basuki and Jingjing Lu with double breadsticks and later trashed the second seeds, Alberta Brianti of Italy and Petra Martic of Croatia in straight sets to reach the final.
