Hsu Jen Hao advances into Men’s Singles second round of the 2011 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open
Chinese Taipei’s spirited shuttler, Hsu Jen Hao powered his way into the Men’s Singles second round after beating Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long in the first round of the 2011 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open, on Wednesday, September 7, in Chinese Taipei.
Jen Hao, who is currently placed at Number 42 spot in the Men’s Singles world rankings, delivered a striking performance against Ka Long and won the straight-set battle in just 34 minutes. His impressive play throughout the match indicated that he is ready
to create upsets in the event.
In the opening set of the match, Jen Hao started his campaign in a composed manner as he played safe strokes to avoid unforced errors. He remained patient and waited for the right opportunity to finish off the rallies. His planned game earned him a considerable
advantage over his challenger, who was committing many errors.
In the opening half, the Taipei shuttler created a four-point gap of 11-7. He remained focused in the second part of the game and spared no chance for Ka Long to fight back in the opening set. Jen Hao bagged the first game with a big difference of 21-14,
by taking 19 minutes in the court.
In the second game of this Men’s Singles match, Jen Hao found his momentum and played with a wonderful flow. The support of the home crowd was also a motivating force for him, to put his best in the match. Until the interval in the first game, the Taipei
shuttler was leading with a big margin of 11-5.
Ka Long changed his tactics many times to break the flow of his rival, but failed as Jen Hao was playing with complete control over the rallies. He employed powerful smashes, strong pushes, semi-smashes and fast drop shots to win points. His perfectly placed
fast drops helped him in creating and manipulating gaps in his opponent’s court.
The perfect play of Jen Hao earned him victory in the second game with a remarkable margin of 21-10, in just 15 minutes. This first-round match ended in 34 minutes with the margin of 21-14 and 21-10.
