Hsu Jen Hao ousts Chen Yuekun in Men’s Singles opening round of 2012 Hong Kong Open

Men’s Singles expert Hsu Jen Hao had a great start of Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open as he overpowered Chen Yuekun and qualified for the pre quarter-finals on November 21, 2012.
This epic tussle prolonged to 41 minutes before ending with final figures of 21-17 and 21-12. Both contenders earned great deal of admiration for putting an honest effort in this straight-set match.
The Taipei campaigner played with great precision and wrapped this showdown in just two games.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Chinese player crashed out of this Super Series despite of showing great fighting spirit.
The battle heated up straight away in the beginning of first set as both shuttlers snapped at each other’s heels to gain an early advantage but neither of them could establish a permanent lead until the half time.
Initially, Chen Yuekun prevailed in the establishing rallies and established his grip over the game with 7-3 total.
However, lack of consistency brought him down and allowed Jen Hao to narrow the gap just before the interval.
The unseeded but talented Jen Hao did not squander this opportunity and tipped the scale in his favour with 11-9 margin.
The Taipei campaigner capitalised this momentum and left his rival far behind in later part of the game. He widened the gap with 17-14 and then swept the table with a four-point lead in 21-17 score.
Next game was sheer disappointment for the Chinese badminton lovers as their player failed to end his competitor’s rule and knelt down tamely.
First sign of trouble came for Chen Yuekun when he lost many valuable points in a row and then kept trailing behind until 3-9 total.
Though, he showed some spark and narrowed the gap by putting 11-12 margin on the board but this short campaign could not make any strong impact.
Jen Hao reinstated his supremacy with 14-11 and then bagged seven consecutive points to pile up an overwhelming score of 21-12.
With such an impressive start, he setup next clash with the veteran Vietnamese player Tien Minh Nguyen in pre quarter-final round of this Super Series.
