Hsuan Yu Chen, Chia Ju Hsieh prove their point in Sunshine Coast Open Tournament 2012
Men’s Doubles partners Hsuan Yu Chen and Chia Ju Hsieh played impeccable badminton and cast out Jeremy Cross-Will Mckechnie in Sunshine Coast Open Tournament on August 12, 2012.
This three-set battle, staged at Nambour in Australia, proved tough trial of their mental and physical strength and both teams had to put an extra effort to read final result of 17-21, 21-14 and 21-8.
The twosome of Yu Chen and Ju Hsieh showed superior craft in last two segments of the tussle whereas the opposing team ruled the court in the opening game.
Jeremy Cross and Will Mckechnie, who had decent support of the crowd, aroused the hopes of their fans by claiming the opening match point.
They laid the foundation of their victory by prevailing in a couple of nonstop rallies straight away in the beginning and did not lose this grip throughout the set.
They displayed superb coordination and did not show any sign of confusion despite of the strong backlash of their rivals in the second half.
Both compatriot pairs pushed each other in all areas of the court to gain a comfortable advantage but then Jeremy-Will made difference when it mattered and finished this tussle with 21-17 score.
The story was entirely different in the next game as the suppressed duo of previous set changed their tactics and managed to bring the contest to right balance.
In first half, Yu Chen and Ju Hsieh were bit sluggish as they could not pick the bird early and dropped valuable points.
However, they did not take much time to get on the right track as they bagged few successive points and placed a mountainous total of 11 until the interval.
Later part of the game saw them in prime touch as they doubled their lead in third quarter of the set before putting a convincing margin of 21-14.
The local crowd was expecting the decider to be nerve-racking fight but they faced disappointment as the other Australian team Jeremy-Will surrendered tamely.
Yu Chen and Ju Hsieh did not make mistake at any stage of the game and continued with their top form. They finished this battle with concluding figure of 21-8.
