Hsueh Hsuan Yi beats Rasmus Fladberg in the Men’s Singles semi-final of the Dutch Open Grand Prix
Chinese Taipei’s spirited player Hsueh Hsuan Yi is through to the Men’s Singles final as he defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Fladberg in the semi-final of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix, in Netherlands, on Saturday, October 15.
The World Number 40, Hsuan Yi played remarkable game by employing his impressive skills against the Danish shuttler and won the match after working hard for 52 minutes. The Taipei shuttler took three games to get rid of Fladberg after putting up a fabulous
show of top standard badminton.
In the opening points of this semi-final contest, both players showed their determination to win the battle as they played fast and attacking game and remained close until the one-minute break in the first set.
After the break, the Taipei shuttler started to play different game by taking the bird early from the net and executed impressive straight and cross-court net shots. His control over the pace of the bird was just impressive. He played positive badminton
in the second half of the game and won it with a good margin of 21-17.
In the second game, Fladberg played stunning game as he occupied the driving seat and established an early lead in a flash. He was playing with wonderful precision and his execution of the strokes was incredibly accurate. Hsuan Yi failed to continue his
dominating run in the game and lost the second game with a margin of 14-21.
However, in the final set of the match, Hsuan Yi found his flow and started to play with deception. Fladberg failed to maintain his momentum in the deciding set as he played a few hasty strokes and threw the bird out of the court.
Hsuan Yi remained quite focused and played positive badminton in the whole game and finished it with a 21-13 score. The concluding result of this fantastic semi-final fight was 21-17, 14-21 and 21-13.
In the Men’s Singles final, Hsuan Yi will fight against his compatriot Tien Chen Chou, who defeated Netherlands’ Eric Pang in the other semi-final of the championship.
