Html/css. I need help with a vertica menu

So I created a verticle menu using A list. Now my problem is that its all the way to the left of the page. I want it to be just left off the center kinda like this website has its catgories. I am able to put it there but the position changes when i resize my browser. how can i make it not do that? thanks!

how is you postioning the menu? there should be a css option that allows you to have it stay in the same spot when you resize but first i need to know how you is doing it
