Hu Yun shows exit to Tien Minh Nguyen in Men’s Singles quarter-final at Japan Open 2012
Hong Kong’s Hu Yun proved that his incredible performance in last week’s Li Ning China Masters was not a fluke as he remained consistent and also reached into Men’s Singles semi-final at the Yonex Japan Open 2012.
In the quarter-final contest, the in-form Hong Kong shuttler stole the limelight by toppling Vietnam’s Tien Minh Nguyen on Friday, September 21, at Tokyo, Japan.
The in-form Yun, who has got an elevated ranking by reaching at number 16 in Men’s Singles world placements, proved that he has achieved skills of the highest level and is ready to spoil the party of all top shuttlers in the world.
Yun was at his best on court as he did not let his opponent to take control of the game and remained successful in finishing off this quarter-final clash in straight games with a reasonable margin by working for 42 minutes on the court.
In the meanwhile, the World Number 14 Tien Minh failed to put up strong show as he could not dictate the pace of rallies and remained struggling on court. He was unable to match the speed of Yun and eventually crashed out without taking any set.
In the first game, both players put in their best skills to dominate the pace but none of them could set up a strong lead until the end of opening half.
Both shuttlers progressed in the similar fashion without dropping down the pace of rallies. Their speed was impressive all the way until the score reached at 22-22.
At this stage, Yun showed his brilliance by playing attacking shots from all areas and took the set with a 24-22 score on the board.
In the following set, Yun sailed smoothly as he continued playing at his best speed and managed to set up a strong position until the one-minute break.
The Hong Kong shuttler continued putting up spectacular show without showing any mercy Tien Minh and wrapped up the game in a crushing manner with a 21-15 score on the board.
Yun emerged as the winner in a convincing manner this quarter-final clash with a reasonable margin of 24-22 and 21-15.
