Hu Yun tames Boonsak Ponsana in group stage of 2012 BWF Superseries Finals – Badminton News
Hong Kong’s prime shuttler Hu Yun played flawless badminton in his opening match of BWF Superseries Finals and thrashed Boonsak Ponsana on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.
This Men’s Singles showdown was a Group A match and it kept both contenders busy on court for three exhausting sets.
Both shuttlers challenged each other in all departments of game and finished this hard fought tussle with a nerve-racking result of 19-21, 21-17 and 21-9.
World Number 15 player Hu Yun showed great fighting spirit and locked the honour by prevailing in the ending two games.
On the other hand, the Thai campaigner frittered away his first set win and faced a woeful defeat in the opening match of this prestigious event.
However, Boonsak played tremendously in the opening game and registered his presence with a commendable show of badminton skills.
He employed an authoritative approach which helped him to establish an indomitable lead in no time.
He kept mounting pressure with some back-to-back productive rallies and then magnified the impact by registering 10-4 total.
After the mid-game break, Boonsak gathered some pace and left his challenger far behind with a significant margin of 21-19.
Unexpectedly, he could not carry this flow in the following game and allowed his rival to come back from a horrendous start.

This time he launched a brisk attack and gained an early advantage on the points table. He enjoyed a commanding position until the figure of eight but then few back-to-back mistakes weakened his grip.
Boonsak narrowed the gap with some consecutive points and both contenders remained equal until 16-16 margin.
At this stage, Hu Yun proved himself superior in all areas of the game and finished this set with an impressive score of 21-17.
The decider became consequential as both shuttlers were looking to claim that final match point. However, the Men’s Singles expert from Hong Kong made it a one-sided affair.
