Huber/ Raymond thrash Yung-Jan/ Hradecka in 2nd round – China Open 2011
The doubles US Open Champions and last week’s Tokyo Champions, Liezel Huber with Lisa Raymond saw a tad difficult victory against wildcard entrants Chan Yung-Jan with Lucie Hradecka in the doubles second round of the China Open
2011. The teams had battled on hard court of National Tennis Center in Beijing, China. After just one hour and twelve minutes the second seeded team of American Huber/ Raymond outclassed Yung-Jan/ Hradecka in straight sets of 7-5, 6-3.
After winning the service toss the first to open the initial round of the match was the second seeded American team of Huber/ Raymond and they were successfully able to hold serve in the first game. Trailing right behind them were
the wildcard entrants, who too won on their first service game and placed themselves right beside their adversaries on the scoreboard at 1-1.
The scoreboard progressed on even terms for the following two games as the players were again able to accomplish a game each and rolled the scoreboard to 2-2. It was again tied at 3-3 and by the end of the eighth game the score
was squared off at 4-4. Eventually in the tenth game as the teams matched a blow for a blow, both the teams had won five games each but in the eleventh game as the second seeded duo held serve, they were lucky to capitalize on the first breakpoint opportunity
and cut the cat n mouse chase to steal away the opening set with a 7-5 victory.
Huber/ Raymond opted to serve again for the second set and both the crews were able to handle the pressure and skilfully placed themselves on the scoreboard at 1-1 by the end of the second game. The teams again levelled the score
at 2-2 by winning on alternate service games. Thus, by the end of the first four games the toe-to-toe run carried well into the second set.
In the fifth game Huber/ Raymond held serve and as Yung-Jan/ Hradecka lost control for the first time, they double faulted on their second serve and sanctioned a crucial game to their adversaries. The American couple were now leading
with a 5-2 and were very keen on another break point, however, that did not happen. Instead, Yung-Jan/ Hradecka were able to hold their serve and had reduced the deficit to 3-5 but the match came to an expected end when the American pair held their serve during
the last game.
Huber/ Raymond sealed a place in the third round of the event by winning in straight sets against Yung-Jan/ Hradecka and increased their win streak is to eleven matches.
