The 45-year-old has expressed his delight at being in-charge of one of the most decorated clubs in French football ahead of the game against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday
The newly promoted Ligue 1 outfit is set to take on the cash-laden club from Paris at the weekend and coach, Hubert Fournier is relishing the idea of playing against the dangerous looking capital club.
While talking to reporters at a press conference, the Frenchman stated that coaching a club like Stade de Reims is a great honour and he feels very privileged to be in that position.
"I feel very privileged to be the coach of Stade de Reims," said Hubert Fournier.
The coach said that Stade de Reims are one of most successful clubs in French football with six Ligue 1 titles, and not many clubs in the country can rival Reims in that regard.
Fournier added that he is very attached to the club and people in the city love this club. Rogues et Blanc is a big part of the city’s culture and after winning the promotion back to the Ligue 1, the club has returned to where it belongs, and where it should
have been all along.
"This club really means something in my eyes and for everyone in this town. The club is a big part of this city's culture, and I can tell you, this football club is sacred and has an incredible history."
Talking about his side’s objectives this season, the 45-year-old stated that following the return to the top flight, the bosses at the club decided against an overhaul of the team, and apart from one or two signings, club is still relying on same old players.
Fournier added that it’s the main reason behind his side’s early success in the league and they intend to keep their fine run going as long as possible.
"We put a plan together in the summer. The directors agreed that the we should keep the same backbone that won us promotion, and just add one or two good signings. That's what we've done and our stability has been key to our success."
