I am answering a question for summer reading regarding whether or not Huckleberry Finn is a good piece of literature. I believe it is, but I need some help with as to "why"... meaning I need examples!! Easy 10 points for anyone who gives me just a few reasons as to why it is good literature. Thanks!

  1. Okay, I'll give you a couple:

Mark Twain was excellent at forcing the reader to see not just the racism in this story, but what slavery was about and what Freedom meant to Jim.

His discriptive narrative about the people and places on the Mississippi.  He depicted their life styles, the way they talked and the way they believed.

Huck learns how to take a stand in time where he could have just as easily been arrested or otherwise for helping Jim.
