Huddersfield Giants seal a two-year deal with Greg Eden - Rugby League News
Today, September 8th, the Huddersfield Giants took on board Castleford Tigers’ utility back, Greg Eden, to a two-year-deal.
Eden turned down a similar two-year offer which was extended to him after making his debut in the Challenge Cup this year. He already made an appearance against the rugby league giants such as the Warington Wolves and Wigan Warriors in Super League fixtures.
While speaking about his move towards Giants for the next two-years, Eden added that it is true that he was tempted to continue with the outfit which granted him the opportunity of his very first rugby league game. He was grateful of the opportunity laid
down by his first club and is planning on wrapping up the season in style by booking himself a spot amongst the reserves play-off series.
However, his excitement to join the Giants was apparent when he stated, “The chance to join Huddersfield cropped up and their facilities, venues and back-up are among the best in Super League which is shown by the number of young English players that they
have their full time. I know I face a big task to make the Super League team but I have every confidence in my own ability and am sure that the Giants will give me the best chance to maximise my chances to become a regular in first-grade rugby."
While speaking about Greg, Huddersfield’s coach Nathan Brown believes that Greg has inborn ability to play rugby league, which sets him apart from the rest. He also added that his on-field position is not confirmed as yet, but the versatility of this utility
back can be determined from the fact that he can fill up as full-back, wing or centre positions.
While speaking about the pool of choices available to Eden, Brown further added, “He could probably even play stand-off at a push - but he is someone we are really excited about signing."
Richard Thewlis, Giants Managing Director is very happy with the latest uptake on his outfit and considers it a useful addition on board with a huge pool of unexplored talent.
