Tottenham Hotspur midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Huddlestone-c35227 is hoping the team can start finishing in the top four more consistently, and is aiming to help the team achieve that target.
The midfielder was disappointed when Tottenham failed to qualify for the Champions League last season, despite finishing in fourth spot.
Had http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 not won the European title, Tottenham would have been applying their trait in the Champions League rather than the Europa League.
The midfielder missed almost all of last season due to an injury, and has only started two games for Tottenham this term. These starts came only because Moussa Dembele has been out injured, and Tottenham had to rely on Huddlestone to fill the void left by
the Belgian.
Tottenham have moved up to fourth spot after defeating Southampton 1-2 last weekend, and the midfielder is of the opinion that his team deserve to be playing Champions League football every season. The player is determined to help his side qualify for the
elite European tournament again, and vows to work hard to do so.
Speaking to reporters, Huddleston spoke about the current team’s prospects and his personal ambitions. He said:
“I like to think the top four will be out natural habitat as a club. We’ve been to the Champions League before, and we're aiming high. Basically I’ve lost nearly 18 months of my career to injury at a time when I should be coming into my prime.”
“I had half-cemented a place in the team under Harry Redknapp, but then I picked up the ankle injury, and it was a long struggle to get back.”
“Last year was a nightmare. Luckily, since we reported back for pre-season, I’ve been fully fit and I’ve enjoyed being involved with the boys again.”
Huddlestone had been linked with a move to Stoke this summer, with reports claiming that the midfielder was not part of manager Andre Villas-Boas’ plans. However, a deal failed to materialized, and the manager stressed that Huddleston remains very much a
part of his long term plans for the club.
Tottenham host Wigan Athletic at White Hart Lane today, and will be targeting all three points as they look to recover their form after the Chelsea defeat last month.
