Tottenham Hotspur midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Huddlestone-c35227 has revealed that the players were very upset and frustrated after Wigan managed a surprise victory over the home side last weekend in the Premier League.
The midfielder admitted that the Tottenham players reacted angrily when they came back to the dressing room after suffering the shocking 0-1 defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic last Saturday.
Had they won, Tottenham would have been three points clear of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Watson-c7458 goal in the second half of the game prevented them from doing so. The club now lies sixth in the table, behind Everton on goal difference. This marks
Tottenham’s third defeat of the season, and the second consecutive home loss.
Wigan were the better of the two teams throughout the game as Tottenham struggled in all areas of the pitch. Tottenham lacked the urgency with which they usually play, and had a difficult time coping with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Martinez’s 3-4-3 formation.
The Spurs fans were frustrated and discontent, and expressed themselves by booing the team off the pitch after the final whistle. They also booed the decision to take off the in-form http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 after half time.
The in-form striker was also very upset when he was substituted for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 and stormed straight down the tunnel. The Togolese striker failed to trouble Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi, who had a very quiet evening.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Huddlestone said:
“Wigan made it difficult for us. They are one of few teams that play three at the back and they utilised it well. We just didn’t turn up. We’ve got to work harder to create options. Normally at home we’ll create three or four chances and stick one or two
away, but I don’t think we created a half-decent effort on goal.”
The player then revealed how upset the players were after the game and added:
“The lads were angry in there. We’ve seen teams drop points and we could have cemented fourth. At home, we fancy ourselves against anybody, we have for a while, but to create so few chances was very disappointing.”
