Question:

Huge car audio help?

So I drive a 1998 Infiniti i30. In my trunk under where my rear speakers are there are metal cylinder things which im assuming are baffles or something of the sort.

With these cylinders I loose tons of trunk height space limiting what size boxes I can put in.

Anyone know what these are or what I can / should do.

I'm thinking either 2 12" l7s or 1 or 2 w7s (12's or 13.5)

let me know.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Dont mess with the cars factory set-up. I would assume its part of a sealed cabinet to give the speakers a deeper tone.

    Build a box to fit your trunk, buy a nice set of 10s and dump all your money in the amp, that's really where the sound comes from.

  2. ohh that sucks, your probly right there probly baffles. if you take them out the only thing you loose from the speaker is the bass you highs should still sound the same. you wont need any bass from your speakers cause your ganna get subs. but what i would do is order a pair of aftermarket baffles that are smaller so you can fit your box back there.

    by the way w7's require a huge box so you may want to stick with the L7s

  3. If your Infiniti is equipped with a Bose audio system, I suspect the cylinders are Bose amplifiers. They're commonly attached to the bottom of the speaker.
