Huge jumping spiders in my basement

ok there are these big, brown spiders in my basement, about the size of a quarter, maybe even bigger. they are repulsive and ALL OVER. i'm afraid to go in my basement to even do my laundry because they are down there. they are always on the floor, never on the walls. i tried smushing them with my swifter mop but they jump too fast. then i tried spraying them with bleach but the jump out of the way. it's scary.

what is this type of spider called?

are they harmful?

can they climb walls? i only see them on the floor.

how can i get rid of them?

  1. Not 100% sure if this is it or not but when I worked at a bait shop one summer we use to get "Spider Crickets". Spiders would get inside the crickets containers and create these semi-large jumping spiders that would often bite. I was bit several times that summer, lol. They were dark in color with arching legs like a cricket. I thought it was a bait shop thing until I saw one at a buddies house. They're more creepy then dangerous.

  2. im pretty sure i have the same problem. the spider itself is not very big, but it sits very low and its legs are acutely bent and thicker than usual. mine are brown/beige and black. they jump quickly and far. i managed to kill one with some metal stand that was laying around. but ive killed 2 or 3 by unloading about a quarter can of raid on it until it stopped jumping around. definitely calling an exterminator, if there's one, there's more than likely many more.

  3. brown recluse spiders dont jump
