I work on a casino boat. It is made almost completely of steel. There is nowhere for these insects to make a home, yet they have found a place to stay. On the back decks where the patronsgo to smoke, they have swarmed the entire area and made themselves a nest . The third deck has about 500 bees. Well, we assume they are bees. the crew of the bpat has the area blocked off and no one is bravve enough to go near them, but ihave never seen a bee that is entirely black and hasnt a single spoeck of color on it anywhere. ( I have pictures. At first, they had the whole side of the boat covered, then they balled up into a huge ball-like form, then they seperated into three forms 1: a smaller ball, a splattered tomato appearing shape, and a brick. we assumed the first two were protecting the queen and the third were "warriors" watching out over the first two incase there was trouble. This was the ones we wassumed were the bees. The humming was very loud, and we thought if you could touch the..

  1. If they were bees I would call a bee keeper.  But I do not know of an all black honey bee.  Leaving them alone is not a good idea. They may find entry in the smallest hole and then you would need to open the area to get them out.  I have seen houses with the side walls riped out to get rid of bees and wasps.  It would help if you posted a picture of the black bees.  The mud wasps are easy.  Call an exterminator, he might look at your bees at the same time.  The separation of the hive  may indicate they are forming new colonies.

  2. With bees, it's called a swarm, and it happens quite often in nature.  This is quite unusual with wasps.

I would recommend calling a professional to remove them, as the wasps will stay for weeks or even months.  They will also leave a horrible mess below their nest.

Please post the pictures somewhere online for us to see!!

  3. You need a professional because you don't know how long it will take for the bees to go away.
