Despite the English skipper Alastair Cook failing to emulate his batting form in the ongoing final Test of the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s managing director Hugh Morris still hailed the batsman for the impact he has had over the past 15 months.
Cook was elevated to the ODI captaincy role last year, where he took over from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
Cook then became England’s Test captain in August this year, and has orchestrated the team’s recent success against India in the ongoing series. After losing the opening Test, Cook led his team to famous back-to-back victories in the next two bouts, which tilted the balance of the series in his side’s favour.
He consequently became the only player in history to notch up centuries in his first five games in charge. Having scored 176, albeit in a losing cause, the left-hander went onto amass 122 and 190 respectively to cement his team’s authority in the series. Moreover, his record-breaking feat also helped him become the youngest player to reach 7000 runs.
His positive approach further rubbed off on all those playing alongside him, allowing the Poms to outplay a dominating host. If they manage to hold on to their lead, they will become the first English side in 28 years to win a Test series on Indian soil.
Morris has nothing but positive words for the current man in charge, hailing his impact following some testing times in English cricket.
"Alastair, for the past 15 to 18 months, has been captain of the one-day squad and has really taken that team forward. The way he has gone about his business in India has been hugely impressive with the bat and as a leader."
"He has got the respect of the changing room. On his first major tour, he has led the team extremely well," Morris said on BCC Radio.
