Hughes back in Test mix for Australia?

Noticed that Phillip Hughes has been named in Australia’s 14-man squad for its Test series against New Zealand. What’s the story there?

Australia’s chairman of selectors, Andrew Hilditch, said when announcing the squad that Hughes has “been in excellent form at state level and richly deserves his selection on the back of another fantastic season in the Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield”. Whether his inclusion in the 14-man touring party translates into selection in the starting XI is another story, and you’d think that barring injury to Simon Katich or Shane Watson, Hughes won’t actually play in New Zealand.
