Cricket Australia on Saturday called up promising top-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 into the Australia A squad for the second and final unofficial Test against England Lions, to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham, between August 14
and 17. Hughes will replace injured state teammate Peter Forrest in the A side.
Peter Forrest, the 26-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 middle-order batsman, had picked up a side strain in the first Test of the two-match series at Old Trafford, earlier this week, and the tourists decided to send him home for rehabilitation.
Cricket Australia’s rehabilitation manager Kevin Sims said that the decision to send Forrest home was to give him proper time to recover from the strain and prepare for the season ahead.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Forrest-c2176 sustained a minor side strain in the match against the England Lions at Old Trafford and with only one match remaining we have decided to send him home to prepare for the upcoming season," Sims told media reporters on
Saturday.
Hughes earned the call-up at the back of fine form in county cricket, playing for Worcestershire County Cricket Club. He is leading county’s batting average in all three formats, County Championship Division One (45.12), Clydesdale
Bank 40 (97.80) and Friends Life T20 tournament (100.50).
The 23-year-old New South Welshman scored a century against a strong http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 attack, at Edgbaston earlier this week. He also carried bat in the same game, returning unbeaten at 135, to become the first Worcestershire opener to
do so in a first-class game in four years.
