Discarded Australian opener, Phil Hughes, says that he is looking forward to his new stint with South Australia in the upcoming domestic season after moving from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823.
The start of the Sheffield Shield will provide chances to many of the Aussie players to prove their credentials and make it to the national team. Hughes falls into this category following his failure to cement a regular place in the Test side, despite being touted as a natural successor to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SM-Katich-c2543.
The start to his career was swift, where he became the youngest player to score centuries in either innings of a match against a formidable http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 veteran all four times he took the crease.
That culminated in him being axed from the Test side, and since then the player has moved from his beloved NSW to South Australia, in a bid to kick-start his career. While an immediate call-up to the national team remains a remote possibility, the left-hander has made gradual strides in recent times, including a fruitful stint in the English County circuit, where he represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866.
"I've been here a few times for a week or two here and there, and I love the place," Hughes said of Adelaide. "I'm originally from the country in NSW, so I'm that down-to-earth type bloke, more laid-back and I think it provides that here, and that's one thing I looked into as well. The place is a lot quieter than Sydney, it's a lot easier to get around, as I've already found out, and I'm looking forward to it.
"I love Adelaide Oval, I've played there a few times now and hopefully I can get as many runs as possible.”
Hughes’ first task in the upcoming domestic season will pit him against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729, his former NSW teammate, opted to chose in order to resurrect his own Test career.
