Hughes looking to make the most of his opportunities – Cricket News Update
Following a tough year, where his technical flaws came under considerable scrutiny, Australian batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185, is looking forward to re-emulate  his early Test form when he takes the field for Australia A against South Africa.
The left-hander made a sparkling debut against the current opposition back in 2009, and became the youngest player to score a century in each innings of a match when he achieved that feat in the second Test of the tour.
However, it has not been easy sailing for the 23-year-old after that, where he struggled to maintain that form against England and the best part of last year, before eventually falling out of favour following an abysmal home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CS-Martin-c1295, which proved fatal to his international aspiration.
However, time out of the national team has helped Hughes to get back into the groove and work on his game. He signed for Worcester in the English domestic circuit, and worked closely with Worcs’ Head Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-John-Rhodes-c91315, which ultimately paved way for a handsome scoring streak.
He then forfeited his home state of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, and a good showing will go a long way in proving that he is back to his best. The player himself is eager to catch the eyes of the selectors after a troublesome period.
"I'm grateful for getting selected in this team," Hughes said. "It was only four months ago I didn't get selected in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and that was a disappointing time. I went to Worcester and got an opportunity there. Now, with runs on the board, I see myself in this team and I've got a great opportunity ahead of me.
"I feel I've opened my leg-side play up so I can hit to all areas of the field. A couple of years ago I was probably limited. My strength was the off-side. I feel like now I can play all around the field and I think that's a big thing in all formats but especially the short format."
