Norwich City manager Chris Hughton felt his side’s narrow 1-0 win against Doncaster Rovers at Carrow Road last night was a fitting tribute to former boss John Bond, who passed away recently.
There was a minute’s silence observed at Carrow Road before both teams face off against one another to pay respects to the late John Bond, who had enjoyed a seven-year spell with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723 during the 1970s. The manager had been responsible for guiding
the club to the League Cup final during his reign.
Chris Hughton’s side edged past the lower league opposition on the emotional night. Norwich took the lead 26 minutes into the first half through a spectacular strike by youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexander-Tettey-c4871. The Norwegian midfielder fired home a 20-yard screamer after
Grant Holt played him in.
That was to be the only goal of the game. Norwich came close to extending their lead seven minutes after the Tettey strike, but were denied by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 keeper Gary Woods. Jamie McCombie had the second opportunity to score and make it 2-0, but his header was
cleared off the line.
The visitors were fortunate not to have conceded another goal as they went on to lose the game 1-0. Norwich did suffer one major setback in the game as on-loan midfielder Harry Kane was injured and stretchered off before the second half started.

"When I came to this club in the summer, the first name you think of as former managers is John Bond," Hughton said.
"If I am able to be at this club anywhere near as long as John was, then I would be incredibly lucky. He will be thought of very fondly by a lot of people."
"It was fitting that Norwich won, but also there was a nice respect from the crowd for a minute's silence, and we also have to applaud the Doncaster support for that as well."
