The France international has expressed his desire to leave Les Gones in order to play Champions League football
Seven-time champions of France finished fourth, ten points behind third-place Lille in recently-concluded Ligue 1 campaign and thus missed out on next season’s edition of UEFA Champions League.
Despite not being able to secure a podium place, Lyon ended the season on a high note and good things are expected from Les Gones next season. However, failure to qualify for Champions League has ignited insecurities in the squad. Few of the club’s star
players are hoping for a move away from the club so that they can play in the Champions League.
A player, who is certain to leave Stade de Gerland side in the summer, is the club’s undisputed no 1, Hugo Lloris. The France international has expressed his unhappiness over missing out on the Champions League and is hoping for a move abroad.
Lyon are seemingly resigned to lose their star keeper who is being tracked by a host of Europe’s top club. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 has attracted a lot of interest from English side, Tottenham Hotspurs and Italian giants, AC Milan.
Helping the case of Lloris, the management of Lyon has hinted that the club could cash-in on its star player this summer.
“Sometimes one is obliged to sell certain players and there are people who will surely be leaving the club.”
Although, Lyon’s president, Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that the club will not sell their star players in the summer, it is expected that Les Gones will not stand in the way of a player, who has remained so faithful to the club.
According to the club’s president, there are no concrete offers for Hugo Lloris and fans can hope that the Frenchman will be at the club for the foreseeable future. However, if a top European club comes with a solid offer and they meet the demand of OL,
Lloris could yet be on his way.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international, who will be the country’s first choice goalkeeper in upcoming Euros, made 36 league appearances for the club in 2011/2012 campaign, conceding 48 goals. Departure of such a world class player will surely be a big blow for Olympique
Lyon.
