The last gasp frantic activity finally ensures the arrival of the highly rated France national team and Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper
Hugo Lloris to Tottenham Hotspurs
Spurs have been strong admirers of Lloris throughout the summer and much has been said about the talented 25-year-old in recent times. Lloris saga has continued for ever since the transfer window started.
From news circulating, that it is the desire of the France International to play in Premier League, to news that Lyon will not let Lloris go, followed by news that Lloris is not happy by the proposed offer, much has been said about the Rhone giants' man.
However, all the speculations and rumours were buried to ground last night as Andre Villas-Boas, the Spurs manager, finally landed the services of the France national team to Spurs. Reported 12 million pound swoop for the player has been deemed as a cornerstone
by experts in ensuring a stepped up defence for Andre Villas-Boas men.
The current No.1 at White hart lane, Brad Friedel, is already 41, and subsequently not in Villas-Boas’ plans atleast in the long run. The arrival of the 25-year-old however, provides the Spurs boss with an effective long term prospect.
Lloris might find it difficult to dislodge the current Spurs trusted shot-stopper as the team’s first choice, but will readily feature as No.1 once age factor comes to haunt Friedel. For Friedel, already 41, this is bound to happen sooner than later.
Lloris however has expressed jubilance over his summer switch to the North London team. The experienced player, in an exclusive chit chat with Spurs TV Online, said, “I am here because I believe in Tottenham.” The surge of Spurs in recent times has compelled
the player to show this faith in Villas-Boas’ project.
The player was keen to embark on the tough challenge of playing in the Champions League and felt confident about his team’s prospects, “I think everything is OK for the future of Tottenham. They have a great team, great players, and a great coach so everything
is all right, I think, to win a place in Champions League next year.”
