The deal between Olympique Lyonnais and Tottenham Hotspurs hit snags after the player has reportedly refused to accept an offer that according to him does not match his financial worth
If newspapers are to be believed then Hugo Lloris was on his way to the Spurs side as soon as yesterday with reports claiming that a deal had been fetched for the 25-year-old. However, a new twist to the saga has surfaced with reports in media circulating
that the player has rejected a proposed bid.
On the club level, it has been widely believed that both clubs had already negotiated an 11 million euros fee, and had the option for another 4.5 million euros depending on appearances and achievements. As part of the deal, Lloris was expected to go to White
Hart Lane for a medical.
The last season’s fourth placed side, Olympique Lyonnais, had originally dreamt of selling Lloris on a price Manchester United bought David de Gea for, though, it was the least likely to happen. Subsequently, a compromised deal was agreed and all seemed
perfect, according to the plan.
But, the last minute snub by the French International has put all in a quandary. However, hectic negotiations are still being pursued at the back and things will be more clearer in the next few hours.
The proposed deal had come under reconsideration after personal terms could not be settled between the player and Tottenham. However, it is still not sure if it is the desire of the player to stay in his native France that compelled him to reject the bid
or is it the money that mattered to the player.
According to L’Equipe, the proposed money was not enough to catch the interest of the in-demand goalkeeper, as he expected Spurs to come up with an improved offer, an offer which according to him would match his worth. According to the same source, the player
is still waiting for an improved offer and the outcome is expected in a few hours.
Whatever was the reason behind the temporary collapse in deal, it is only a matter of few hours before all becomes crystal clear.
