The Hugo Lloris saga is all set to meet its eventual fate as Tottenham close in on to land the highly-rated shot-stopper’s services
It is reportedly believed that Olympique Lyonnais have finally agreed to the sale of French International Hugo Lloris in a 12 million pound scoop by the North London giants. The news has come moments after Fulham agreed to sell Moussa Dembele to Tottenham.
Though, transfer fee has not been disclosed till yet but, the player has been permitted to negotiate modalities with the interested club. Lloris is also understood to be anxious to join Spurs before the end of the transfer window.
Lyon, who were originally not going to budge to the 20 million euros price tag levied on the player, have now finally succumbed to the successful manouvres of Andre Villas-Boas. The probable reason behind the compromise has its roots linked to the vulnerability
of the club, besieged by enormous financial constraints.
The recent sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid has provided the club with a host of funds and cash inflow. And the former Chelsea manager, Villas-Boas, wants to make good use of the available funds. The signing of Lloris from Lyon is viewed as a long term
replacement for veteran shot-stopper, Brad Friedel.
Brad Friedel, the current number 1 at White Hart Lane, is 41, while the French goalkeeper Lloris is still only 25 and has plenty of years to offer to the premier league side. But, most importantly, his successful stints at Lyon and in the France national
team have earned him recognition all over the world.
On the contrary, the club’s transfer advisor, Bernard Lacombe, had already expressed his displeasure on the potential sale of Lloris to Spurs. The goalkeeper had been deemed as an important player in Remi Garde’s plans.
But, the recent availaibilty of funds to the London team, followed by Lyon which finds itself in a dire need of money and in a financial catastrophe, added with the eagerness of the 25-year-old to play with Tottenham have all become reasons plenty enough,
for an inevitable transfer in a day or so.
