The Olympique Lyonnais shot stopper is still a wanted man for the Spurs' manager as he looks forward in the transfer market for an ideal replacement of Brad Friedel
The former Porto boss has yet again renewed his interest in the French International after speculations surfaced that Andre-Villas Boas has cooled down his interest in the goalkeeper. The reason behind the speculations is related to the unavailability of
funds.
The French sensation has already been subject to a 15 million euros bid from the North London giants. However, the money tabled does not seem to make the Lyon hierarchy roll their heads over it. According to sources, the Rhone giants expect much more from
Spurs to meet their evaluation of the highly-rated goalkeeper.
Money however, is not the only factor in club’s mind as ideally the club does not want to lose out on a player, who features so much in Remi Garde’s plans and is greatly linked to success in the club’s quest for honours this season.
Club’s transfer advisor, Bernard Lacombe, has also expressed his concern over the transfer of the 25-year-old, as he said, “Where Lloris is concerned, he must remain at Lyon and not go to Tottenham”.
Although, the advisor to the club has a lot of say in the transfer matters, he did concede his vulnerability in Lloris’ case as he said, “Of course, until the transfer window closes you never know” and added, “If Modric goes to Madrid, something could happen”.
And Lacombe believes that even if Tottenham comes up with an improved offer, even then, the financially stricken club needs not to sell a player who features so much in Remi Garde’s plans. According to him, it’s another case if silly money comes in and in
that case, selling him would be ideal.
Villas-Boas is reportedly waiting for an influx of funds from the sale of Modric to Madrid. If the transfer of the Croatian does materialise, then it is expected that the Spurs boss will come up with an improved bid for Lloris. The asking price set by Lyon
initially is said to be 20 million euros.
