h*i Min Anissa earns Girls 50m backstroke gold – 53rd MILO National Schools Swimming Championships
h*i Min Anissa Lye earned gold medal of the 50m backstroke in Division-A of Girls 16-19 Year Olds age category at the 53rd MILO National Schools Swimming Championships in Phoenix, Arizona on April 25.
The 16-year-old Lye, who qualified into the final as top contender for gold medal, continued her nerve-wrecking form in the final round and seized gold medal of the event.
With her immaculate efforts, she remained in a comfortable lead over her challengers in the shortest backstroke event as she clocked a time of 32.64 seconds.
Her stupendous effort remained 0.60 seconds faster from Sarah Duan Dahlberg of ACJC, who occupied seconds best position of the event by posting a time of 33.24 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by her teammate, Kar Yin Oh, who was just 0.10 seconds behind and settled on the victory stand for bronze medal with the timing of 33.34 seconds.
Oh remained just 0.01 seconds lucky enough from Ka Wing Alici Chiang of SJIT, who settled on the finishing wall for fourth position by reporting a time of 33.35 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Rachel Tay of RI, who tapped the finishing end with an effort of 36.10 seconds.
On the other hand, Jing Wen Shan Teo of RI occupied gold medal of the Girls 100m backstroke. The 16-year-old Teo stayed remarkably ahead of her closest competitor and ended her swim in first place by posting a time of 1 minute and 06.76 seconds.
Teo was chased by her team-member, Ting Yi Chan, who secured silver medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 12.63 seconds.
The 17-year-old Chan edged out her closest competitor, Ka Wing Alici Chiang of SJIT, with a difference of 0.06 seconds as Chiang gathered bronze medal of the event in a time of 1 minute and 12.69 seconds.
Similarly, Kar Yin Oh proved her eligibility for fourth position of the event as she hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 17.81 seconds.
In addition, the championship ended after the completion of all planned events.
