Hulkenberg looking for a seat for 2011
There are still quite a lot of empty seats in the driver’s lineup for the upcoming season of Formula One but the question is who will fill them? There are a few talented drivers looking for a spot in any team, and one of these
drivers is Nico Hulkenberg.
After taking an astonishing pole position in the Brazilian GP, Hulkenberg would have hoped to stay with Williams for at least another season but the German was left out by the team. His teammate, Rubens Barichello has been retained.
Hulkenberg is considered to be one of the most brilliant talents amongst the other young drivers coming up in the sport.
Not many good seats are left for the next season as most of the top teams have retained their drivers. Hulkenberg will be looking to finalize a deal with any of the midfield teams yet with no deals as yet announced, the possibility
of Hulkenberg racing next season remains doubtful.
The best option for Hulkenberg right now would be to go for the Force India team. Force India is the only option left with seats still empty . Hulkenberg confirmed having talks with Force India regarding his chances in the team.
Because of the current financial situation, it is important to have a good sponsorship package for a driver apart from their talent. Hulkenberg had a good season with Williams but that is not the only qualification for a driver
to earn a seat nowadays.
Hulkenberg was praised by one and all with his impressive show for Williams. He was also backed up by the team until the very last race. It is unfortunate though that he didn’t get confirmed even after performing well. Hulkenberg
said that he was informed in the last race that he would not be a part of the team for the next season. Although, he claimed that there were already signs pointing towards this.
Hulkenberg said that he had learned a lot from the veteran driver and teammate, Rubens Brichello. The veteran driver has 18 years of racing experience with him and still remains a very talented driver. He had a very good season
with Brawn GP in 2009, securing the championship for the team alongside his partner Jenson Button who became the Drivers Champion that season. Barichello was the better of the two drivers for Williams in the first half of the 2010 season.
It is unfortunate that talent can no longer earn a seat for a driver. A good sponsorship package is a must nowadays. Recently, the manager of the Ferrari driver Fellipe Massa, Nicolas Todt said, “tough economic times mean talent
alone is not necessarily enough. You need funding too”.
It is very likely that a great talent like Hulkenberg may be left without a seat for the 2011 season. We’ll just have to wait and see.
