Hull City confirm Roman Bednar interest
Football League Championship outfit Hull City have confirmed that they have approached West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar.
The former Heart of Midlothian forward has played rarely for the English Premier League side all season, not having made a start in the league since the first game of the season. He has made only six appearances this term.
His move down the pecking order at the Hawthorns alerted Hull (who are keen to strengthen their squad) to his availability, and the club's manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed that an inquiry has been made to the Baggies regarding Bednar.
He told the BBC, "We've been trying to strengthen the squad, but it's not been easy. We'll have to wait and see. We've made an inquiry and if we get anything more definite I will make a comment then. The situation at his club is such that we've not been
able to do it so far. I don't like to comment on other people's players until it is appropriate."
Bednar moved to West Brom from Hearts on loan in 2007. He impressed with 13 goals in 29 league games for the club, and helped them gain promotion from the Football League Championship.
The Czech Republic international made such an impact that West Brom paid a fee of 2.3 million pounds to capture his services permanently. In total, he has played in 69 games for the Baggies and has scored 17 goals.
However, the player has a controversial past, having received a three-month ban by the English Football Association in May 2009 after he allegedly bought cocaine and cannabis.
Should Bednar move to Hull, he will be joining a club that are currently sitting in 20th place in the Championship, just one point ahead of Bristol City and Crystal Palace, who are both in the relegation zone.
